Braces for Children
Traditional Orthodontic Treatment for Reliable Results
Braces are an economical, durable, and time-tested method for straightening teeth and improving oral function. They are versatile enough to resolve a wide range of orthodontic conditions relating to both the teeth and the jaws.
For all of these reasons, they make a great choice for kids.
Most kids who need orthodontic intervention to correct misaligned teeth or jaws will start treatment with braces between the ages of 11 and 13, when all their permanent teeth have grown in.
In rare cases, kids as young as seven may be candidates for braces. We use braces on children with baby teeth only when necessary to create space for adult teeth to erupt in the proper positions, correct crossbites, or correct certain functional issues.

Flexible Payment Plans to Make You Smile
Investing in a straighter, healthier smile has never been easier. At Nalchajian Orthodontics, we help patients and their families manage the cost of orthodontic treatment with flexible in-house payment plans and convenient financing with CareCredit.
Features of Braces for Kids
If you're a parent considering braces for your child, it's important to know that braces have changed since you were a kid. Here's how:
More Efficient Tooth Movement
Kids who aren't super excited about getting braces will be pleased to know that innovations in orthodontic science have made braces more efficient at correcting misalignments than in the past. That translates to shorter treatment times for kids today.
More Streamlined Appearance
Not very long ago, braces were bulky and sharp, often accompanied by headgear. Today, metal braces are much smaller and lighter, designed with comfort and effectiveness in mind. An added bonus is that modern braces typically only need adjustment every six to eight weeks!
More Fun to Wear
Children's braces can actually be fun. Although they do affect the appearance of the smile during treatment, many of our young patients look forward to choosing the next color for their braces' elastics. Some even like to choose to mix colors for extra pizazz.
Braces at Nalchajian Orthodontics
Orthodontic braces traditionally straighten teeth using a combination of brackets, elastic bands, and wires.
But today's braces aren't the clunky, uncomfortable face-full-of-metal that you might be picturing from decades ago. Modern braces are more streamlined and more comfortable than ever before.
