Early Orthodontics For Children

A Moderate Approach to Children's Orthodontics
As your child grows and develops, orthodontic issues could be developing too. Children should visit the orthodontist for an assessment at about age seven so that issues can be identified and monitored, and treatment timing optimized.
We take a conservative approach to orthodontics for children, based primarily on monitoring growth and development. We'll only intervene when strictly necessary, usually in cases where the child has a narrow upper jaw, a crossbite, or when adult teeth are being blocked from growing into position properly.
Early orthodontic evaluation and treatment can help address many of the common oral problems that children face as they grow up – including speech and eating issues, snoring, teeth grinding, thumb sucking, and more. The information we gather during monitoring can help guide and inform future orthodontic treatment.
At our Fresno and Clovis orthodontic clinic, we offer jaw growth guidance with palatal expanders, as well as retainers, spacers, Invisalign First and traditional braces for our young patients.
